Party weekend

MY LITTLE BOY IS 4!!!! It was a busy busy birthday weekend! We kicked it off Friday with my family. We had a pool party at my Lisa's parents pool. We celebrated all the March birthdays. It was a lot of fun having the entire family together!

a

Saturday morning we did a little party with Tyler's two bestest friends Oliver and Blake at Kangaroo Zoo. They had so much fun! They ran around the entire time. Afterwards we went to McDonald's for lunch. They were so exhausted they barely played on the slides there. They were more then happy to sit down and rest. Cute kids!

Sunday was Tyler's actual birthday. We made homemade pizza. Tyler loves it when we let him help make the dough. Almost as much as he loves playing in the flower. We then had Matt's family over for dinner and cake. Tyler was so excited to have his Thomas cake. Can't get enough of Thomas!

We got Tyler a bike for his birthday. He loves it and cruises around on it all day. What an adorable little boy. I can't believe he is 4 already. He is the cutest little guy. Lately I ask him "Who is my favorite boy in the whole world?" He answers with "Mine am! Who is my favorite mommy in da whole nuniverse?" How cute is that? He such a sweet boy and so funny! He makes me so happy!

My craft

This was my little project last week. This is our master bedroom. It's a work in progress but I decided to paint a picture to add to the room. I went and bought some canvas at a local art store. It was my first time painting on actual canvas, I felt like such a professional. For those of you who know me I am not at artist. But I did freehand this and it turned out better then I thought it would. I am in search for two old night stands or end tables that I can refinish for my next project. If you have any you need to get rid of fill free to give me a call!

Tyler's First Primary Talk

That's right, as you read in the title, Tyler had his very first talk in Primary today. Such a cute little story. Last week Tyler was too emotional to go to Primary. Well, unknown to us, his friend Blake went to Tyler's class, told his new teachers that he was Tyler, and by the end of class volunteered to give a talk. How funny is that! So, this week Tyler and I practiced his little talk. He did perfectly. When it was his turn he walked right up, pulled the microphone down, and began his talk (with the help from Mom). He was afraid at all. Wasn't shy or quiet. He was absolutely precious! It was on how We Believe in Heavenly Father and in Jesus Christ. This week I had the best opportunities while we practiced to teach Tyler about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and why we do believe in them. It's true what they say, you can't start too young. Tyler listened to everything and asked questions. I LOVED it! I'm so proud of my little guy!

Life in the New Year

I feel like we have been so busy lately but I don't know with what. I suppose it's all the same, it's now life. Matt is always busy. He's enrolled in another class at UVU. It's only one, but it's a time consuming one. Plus doing some work on the side. I feel like we rarely see him. You know how every college students thinks things will get easier after graduation, but then every graduate tells you it's not true. Turns out everyone already graduated was right. It's not true. I didn't expect to be financially set just because Matt did college. I did hope to have him around more tho. It's our own fault. When things start to slow down we love to pick up more projects!

Last week I started doing my cooking blog again. Things got so busy I stopped blogging some awesome dishes. But I'm back in the game, now try to blog healthier things too. It's been fun and keeps me doing what I like to do. Feel free to check it out citrussun.blogspot.com.

By the way, this month was a mile stone in our little family. Tyler started Primary and Katie started nursery. Can you believe it? My little guy is now going to be in all the adorable primary programs. Probably the one up there picking his nose and not singing, but that's ok. He'll still be stinkin' cute! Katie hasn't been successful in nursery. Our ward is at 11:00 making nursery right at nap time. That's ok tho. We'll hopefully get use to it soon.

Here are just a few pictures. We haven't really been doing much to take pictures of. But if any of you are like me pictures are the best part of blogs so here you are. Have a good week!

My cute little kids sure do love their Daddy!

Tyler's little preschool class went on a field trip to Maceys. The got a hair net and all the kids thought was great! This is us in Costa Vida for lunch right after. He didn't want to take it off. Yup, he's really cool like that!!! ;) I love my little guy! There is always laughter with him!

Just a Mom?

A woman, renewing her driver's license at the County Clerk 's office,
Was asked by the woman recorder to state her occupation.

She hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself.

"What I mean is, " explained the recorder,
"do you have a job or are you just a ....?"

"Of course I have a job," snapped the woman.

"I'm a Mom."

"We don't list 'Mom' as an occupation,
'housewife' covers it,"
Said the recorder emphatically.

I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself
In the same situation, this time at our own Town Hall.
The Clerk was obviously a career woman, poised,
Efficient, and possessed of a high sounding title like,
"Official Interrogator" or "Town Registrar."

"What is your occupation?" she probed.

What made me say it? I do not know.
The words simply popped out.
"I'm a Research Associate in the field of
Child Development and Human Relations."

The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in midair and
Looked up as though she had not heard right.

I repeated the title slowly emphasizing the most significant words.
Then I stared with wonder as my pronouncement was written,
In bold, black ink on the official questionnaire.

"Might I ask," said the clerk with new interest,
"just what you do in your field?"

Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice,
I heard myself reply,
"I have a continuing program of research,
(what mother doesn't)
In the laboratory and in the field,
(normally I would have said indoors and out).
I'm working for my Masters, (first the Lord and then the whole family)
And already have four credits (all daughters).
Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the humanities,
(any mother care to disagree?)
And I often work 14 hours a day, (24 is more like it).
But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers
And the rewards are more of a satisfaction rather than just money."

There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice as she
Completed the form, stood up, and personally ushered me to the door.

As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career,

I was greeted by my lab assistants -- ages 13, 7, and 3.
Upstairs I could hear our new experimental model,
(a 6 month old baby) in the child development program,
Testing out a new vocal pattern.
I felt I had scored a beat on bureaucracy!
And I had gone on the official records as someone more
Distinguished and indispensable to mankind than "just another Mom."
Motherhood!

What a glorious career!
Especially when there's a title on the door.

Hi Hi Hi

We have been super busy this month. I can't believe how time flies.

Matt is busy with work and, as always, busy with lots of projects. I love him! Always busy but always wanting to use his creative side! He's always fun to have around that's for sure.

Tyler has finished his first semester of preschool (if you can call it a semester)! I didn't think much of preschool at first, but I have definitely seen a change in him. He's grown and learned so much. Every day he surprises us with some question or story. He's a very curious adorable little guy! He also starts primary in two weeks. The nursery has been taking his class to primary to get use to it. Last week he was playing at the church while I set up for enrichment. I found him in the primary room talking into the microphone. He said "Listen to me everyone. Scriptures are good. I love Jesus. Amen." I asked him what he was doing. He said he is talking about Jesus into the talker like they do in primary. That was just precious for me. My little baby boy is getting big.

Katie, oh my goodness Katie! She sure keeps us busy. She talks all the time now. She's so stinkin' independent. It's adorable but she still can't do it all herself. It's like she just enter high school. Today she even tried to poor her own milk. Luckily Matt caught her, but she got mad about it. She makes us laugh everyday. She can scream one second and then be busting up laughing the next. Girls are different then boys, no doubt about that, but they sure are fun!

Me? In this moment I am loving life. My kids are adorable! My husband is amazing! My ward and neighbors are fantastic, I love my girlfriends here! My life is surrounded by so much family and friends that have so much love to give, and I love them all so much! This time of year always makes me reevaluate my life. There isn't anything I would change in my life. Of course I personally strive to be a better person, but everything else is great!

Here are a few pictures of this months family activities. We've been busy but have taken advantage of every minute we get to spend together.

Penny for Your Thought?

My Week

I'm trying to blog more frequently, even if I don't have super cute pictures to post. Matt was in Kansas all week for work. It was really hard! I've never had my two kids for a week with out a husband at all. It made me grateful that I'm not a single parent. On top of that I decided to paint my living room. I would take pictures and post them, but it isn't a drastic color so in pictures it wouldn't look any different. I painted my walls a tan color, about two shades darker then it was before. I love it! Whatever made me decide to do it without Matt in town is beyond me. I got it finished, but I lost a little of my sanity! Needless to say I am very grateful to have a wonderful husband, father, priesthood holder, provider, and best friend in my home. I love Matt! I love my two little ones too! Man I am so blessed. I hope everyone reading this takes a moment and thinks about how blessed they are too. Life can be hard but it can be so much fun too! That's it for this week. Love you all!

Halloween

Halloween weekend was a blast! Tyler had a little program on Thursday at his school. He was so precious! He had a little line that we practiced all week. I can't believe my little boy just had his first school program! Friday we got to go to Matt's work and do trick-or-treating to all the cubicals. Afterwards we went to Matt's parents house for a Halloween Party. Needless to say there was a lot of sugar and a lot of fun that day! Saturday was the first weekend in a while that we got to spend as a family doing whatever we wanted. It was nice for a change to have a quiet day. That even however was the opposite. We got together with friends and took the kids trick-or-treating. Tyler and Katie loved it! Tyler was Super Why this year. If any of you watch PBS Kids it's a hot show on there. Tyler loves it! Katie was a bumblebee. She got into it so much. She ran as fast as she could door-to-door trying to keep up with the toddlers. She said her version of trick-or-treat at each one too, followed by her version of thank you. She loved it and would get so mad if we tried to get her to skip a house!

This was before church today. I can't believe how big my little kids are getting!

My life is so blessed. Matt and I have decided to read the Book of Mormon in 30 days. (thanks to the great example of Julie and Luke) We have been going a week now. It's amazing the change we have seen in our home and lifes this last week. It's only 18 pages a day which isn't that much unless you miss a day! We have already recieved blessing for doing this. When really having the scriptures alone are a blessing. The Lord just keeps giving us more! This month we got to spend a lot of time with friends and family with my birthday and halloween. It reminded me of how greatful I am so be surrounded by so many people that love me and my little family. I am so incredubly blessed it's unreal. And I owe everything to the Lord. I know if I didn't include him in my life I wouldn't be where I am today. Thank you all for being part of my life and my group of loved ones!

Geek My Media

Matt and I have a new business! Everyone should go check it out at www.geekmymedia.com. I haven't posted in forever because all my spare time has gone to creating the website. It's now up and running, our business is registered, and we are legit! Go see and let us know what you think. The system is amazing! It's an all-in-one computer hooked to your tv. Allows you to record live tv, store movies and music, surf the net, and more all from your couch. Everyone needs one!!!
