Projects

I've had some time at home (since Katie can't really go out and play). So I have picked up some fun projects! I did two different wreaths this last week. I did a craft night with some girls that was a blast. The 4th of July wreath is what came of that. The I did the other one simply out of bordom, but I think it is a good one for the month of June. The balloon wreath I did like a year ago with the girls in my family. But I just made the banner to go across it. It hangs for the week of one of our birthdays. I think the banner is perfect for it! (the picture not so much!) I decided it would be fantastic to have a wreath for each month of the year. (give or take) But if you know me at all you know I HATE storing things. So I decided to hang a long board across my garage and hang them all from there. Then they are out of the way but not getting smashed or anything. I love the idea. All in all a very fun filled week of creativity!

We also had an solar eclipse this year. We bought some special glasses from the planetarium to see it. The kids loved every second of it and told their friends all about it later. This is them watching.

It's Broken

We took Katie back to the doctor for a second x-ray.  They told us if she wasn't walking on it after a week bring her back.  They said on little kids it can take 1-2 weeks before a break will appear on the x-rays.  So we did it and sure enough her little leg is broken.  It's right below the knee.  They said it was like a wet tree branch.  When you try to snap one it will bend.  It wont break straight through, but it will fray and splinter the branch.  Well, that's what happen to her leg.  Not a straight through break, but inside the bone it is frayed.  It's so sad!  It's been a hard few weeks.  She isn't suppose to put any weight on it.  Meaning we have to carry her everywhere.  She's a tough girl though.  She tries to crawl and still do a lot on her own.

The saddest part of it all?  She doesn't want anyone to see it.  She had her preschool program on Tuesday and the only way I could get her to go is telling her she can wear a long skirt so no one will even see it.  Today we go to church and I have to do the same thing.  If people point it out she shuts down and hides her face in me.  It breaks my heart.  I've had to ask people to not bring it up.
She's a cute cute girl though.  The cast breaks your heart but it is a cute one!  She got so excited when the doctor told her she could pick two colors.  She picked pink and red.  I wasn't sure how that would turn out but it's adorable!  I think if Dr. Suess made a cast it would have been this one.  Everyone comments on how cute it is.  It's like a pink and red candy cane.  What a cute girl!

Poor Baby Girl :(

My poor baby girl has had a tough month and it's only the 9th.  Last week she broke out in hives every time her body would get warm.  When she went outside, took a bath, etc.  We don't know why.  It would cover her entire body.  But as soon as she would come inside and cool down they would go away within 30 minutes.  It was so weird.  She hasn't had it happen since Friday, which is good.  But we still don't know why it even happened. 

The week before that she had serious stomach problems and had to have an enema.  (too much info, I know)

Yesterday she was at a friends house jumping on the tramp.  She fell and was crying.  At first I thought she was just emotional.  But an hour later of her not moving and still crying we got a little worried.  We ended up taking her to the InstaCare.  There is no break thank goodness.  They said a hairline fracture could take a week before it shows up on an x-ray.  She probably has a bad sprang or pulled ligaments.  She can't put any wait on it without crying.  It's so sad!  She doesn't understand why it's taking so long for her to walk.  She wanted to go out and play so bad today.  It breaks my heart!  If she's not walking on it in the next 5 days we are suppose to go in for another x-ray.  Poor little baby girl! :(  I had to have hip surgery in 6th grade because of a trampoline, Katie has hurt her knee, is it really worth it?  Kids love them but I think I'm over it.  All fun and games until someones at the hospital.  And it is not worth watching your child go through that much pain!

Things come in threes so hopefully this little girl will have a break now and can just have fun from here on out!  I love you baby Kakes!

My House

This is the craft I did last night at a girls night with the "wives club". We had a lot of fun! My friend asked me to post a picture of my house. Since my living room is clean I'll do that one right now. Sorry Ann, you'll have to wait for others! I think the "FAMILY" looks great on top of my entertainment center!

I forgot to add these cute pictures after our Japan trip.  We brought home nunchucks and a bandana for Tyler and a little kimono for Katie.  Super cute!  Katie wore it to church on Sunday! 

Japan

As many of you know, Matt and I just got back from Japan.  We spent 10 days there.  It was amazing!  We have such a blessed life.  2 beautiful healthy children, life with each other for eternity, a great home, we've already been on a couple amazing trips in the first 6 years of our marriage.  The list could go on and on.  This is one of our major trips.  We've been wanting to go to Japan together since we got married.  Matt served his mission there and has always wanted to go back.  Now we have!  And it was perfect!!!  So here is only a small portion of our pictures:

The Golden Pavilion.  The entire thing is gold plated.  These pictures don't do it justice.  It shined so much and it was even overcast that day.  I can't imagine on a sunny day.

Exhausted and waiting for the train

Our hotel in Kyoto was amazing!  It was connected to the major train station.  If you notice escalators against the walls go all the way up 11 flights of stairs.

There are thousands of these arches.  We walked forever through them all.  It's suppose to bring fortune to your business by buying one and having it put there.  They were hundreds of thousands to have your business put one there.  But super cool to walk through.  There were also monkeys there but we didn't get to see any.  Apparently they attack people to there were signs to throw rocks if you see one.  Kinda funny!

We saw this bamboo forest on a super windy day.  It was beautiful hearing the wind bang them against each other.

Hiroshima.  The bomb exploded like 400m above this building.  This was the hardest part of the trip.  You learn so much about the war but we don't learn much about what exactly the US did to Japan.  By far more terrible then they ever did to Pearl Harbor.  It was hard to stomach going through the very vivid and gruesome museum.

The Floating Tori Gate.  When the water is higher is goes all the way past the building you see behind this gate.  We hit it at the off season obviously.  But it would be amazing to see it "floating"

The this island the gate is on deer are friendly and very protected.  You can pet all of them and they are nice.  They can also wonder through the stores and the employees are not allowed to kick them out.  Even if they ruin things.  Very protected animal on the island apparently.

Osaka Castle.  One of the 3 biggest in the country

We saw these people taking their wedding pictures and I just had to ask for one myself.  She was so beautiful!

Eating and some restaurant I can't say the name to.  They bring you all this raw meet and you grill it right there on your table.  This is where we all ate cow tongue without realizing it.  It was good though!

This was our favorite spot!  Is Tacayama.  Matt actually lived in this city on his mission.  It's up in the mountains and beautiful.  We loved the bench because it was on the river right under a beautiful cherry blossom tree.

These houses in the back ground are in Tacayama.  The roofs are made from straw.  People lived in this tiny village until the 60's when Japan got TV and it became a trend to move to the big city.  Eventually the big city came to them and these home are no longer lived in.  They were so cool to walk through though.

Out of all the Temples we saw this one was my favorite! ;)

I got to ring the big bell.  You are suppose to bow, ring the dong, and make a wish while it goes.

Last but not least, what we called the squatters.  Yes these are in all the public bathrooms (men and women).  They would offer these stalls and regular ones.  Even at the airport.  More then once there would be travelers lined up for the regular stalls and Japanese women going in these.  Not a chance I was going to try that!
